No 5 Training Helicopter Squadron was formed in 1981 and equipped with the Hughes 500 for basic helicopter training and UH1H for advanced training and is based at King Hussein Air College. They are also equipped with the AS350B3 Eurocopter. The Squadron has other tasks which include crop and anti-locust spraying.
