SQUADRONS

Squadrons in Royal Jordanian Air Force are divided into the following categories,
according to their roles and functions:

. Training squadrons
. Fighting squadrons
. Transport, support and utility squadrons
. Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) squadrons
. The Royal Squadron
. The Royal Falcons aerobatic team

TRAINING SQUADRONS

The 4th Squadron was formed in 1960 with
Chipmunks and deployed at King Hussein Air
Base in Mafraq for initial flying training. In
November 1978 it was disbanded, reformed and
equipped with the British trainer, Bulldog, which
was later replaced by another British trainer, the
Firefly which continued to be RJAF initial fixed
wing trainer until 2016 when the German-made
Grob G120TP was introduced at King Hussein Air
College.
