Squadron 11 was established originally as a fighter
squadron in January, 1978, equipped with F-5E
aircraft and mandated to carry out the roles of
air defense and air to ground attacks. Back then,
it was based at Prince Hassan Air Base in Safawi
and then redeployed to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base
in Azraq and in March, 1985, exchanged numbers
with Squadron 6. It became a training squadron
and was operating with the T37 until 1987 when the
Casa 101 came into service as the basic jet trainer
at King Hussein Air College.
