NO. 28 SQUADRON

Operating on the US-made, multi-mission Little Bird, the
28th Squadron was established in 2007 upon directives
by His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander
of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army. His Majesty
wanted a squadron equipped with a helicopter with
night vision capability.
The Little Bird was the best choice for sniper operations,
armored with Dillon M134D Gatling Gun and 2.75
multi-range rockets, along with the same navigation
system used in Airbus civilian planes.
It is mainly deployed for anti-terrorism missions and
can fly two hours non-stop, covering 180 miles. The
future plan is to change the weapons into laser-guided
ammo.
The 28th Squadron was part of the special operations
brigade, which functioned separately from the RJAF,
before it was merged with King Abdullah II Air Base's
spec-ops component.
