WHERE WE ARE NOW SQUADRONS
NO. 26 SQUADRON ISR SQUADRONS
All intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance
squadrons are located in Prince Hussein bin
Abdullah ISR Wing, based in Ghabawi and
adjacent to King Abdullah II Air Base.
The Wing's squadrons are fully integrated and
they complement each other, in the sense that
the surveillance, attack and transport missions
are performed within the Wing.
Located at King Abdullah II Air Base, this helicopter
squadron operates the MI-26, the largest ever
helicopter designed for heavy lifting. It is part of the
Quick Reaction Force designated to the base.
The Russian-made helicopter is 40m long and
11.6m high, with 11,400 horsepower. It can carry 82
passengers, while its cargo capacity is 20 tons and it
can lift 20 tons.
The multi-task giant can be turned into a
60-stretcher mobile hospital and when used to
extinguish fire, its bucket can carry 15,000 liters of
water and the same quantity of fuel in special tanks
when used for the purpose of fuel supplying.
