WHERE WE ARE NOW
FOREWORD BY HIS ROYAL
HIGHNESS CROWN PRINCE
AL HUSSEIN BIN ABDULLAH II
I still fondly recall the time I spent learning how to fly a
Black Hawk helicopter solo. It was a time of discipline
and commitment to strict military regulations, a time
I lived with passion. I began training alongside my
brothers-in-arms in the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab
Army in May 2018. It was a grueling practical and
theoretical program; I attended lectures on the science
of aviation, and received hands-on field training.
The instructors had informed me earlier that discipline,
punctuality, adherence to instructions, and maintaining
a high level of fitness were absolutely a must to succeed.
I realized that on a personal level, I needed to keep a
clear mind as well, to take in all the details of flying this
advanced helicopter.
I was committed throughout my training, until it was
time I put all that I had learnt to test, when the instructor
informed me that I was ready to fly solo. My first solo
flight of the Black Hawk took place on 27 May 2018.
When I landed that day, my brothers-in-arms welcomed
me with the water salute, the military tradition marking
the completion of field training. It was a true joy sharing
this milestone with them.
That flight, and that feeling of immense delight as I
flew in the skies of our beloved Jordan, marked a new
chapter in my service in the ranks of the Jordan Armed
Forces-Arab Army and I know that our Armed Forces
are the source of pride for His Majesty King Abdullah II
ibn Al Hussein, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan
Armed Forces, and for all Jordanians alike.
Like all Jordanians, I am proud of our Royal Jordanian
Air Force personnel, and I wish them further success on
their journey.
