WHERE WE ARE NOW

 STAFF OFFICERS SCHOOL (SOS)

RJAF's Staff Officers School offers training
courses to prepare junior officers to assume
leadership posts within RJAF and polish their
                             skills in military science research.
SOS was established in April, 1979 at King
Hussein Air College in Mafraq before it was
moved to its new premises in Amman. The first
batch graduated in December of the same year.
It offers a basic training course for first and
second lieutenants, for 10 weeks, and a 12-week
staff training course for officers holding the rank
of captain, who are prepared afterwards to study
at JAF's Royal Command and Staff College at a
third level of professional capacity building.
SOS also prepares trainers through a course
on the best training methodologies, involving
officers holding the rank of captain.
The school, which has modified the syllabi to
adopt the latest technologies, plans to launch a
                             crisis management course.
Since its inception until the end of 2018, SOS had
graduated, in the three types of courses, 4,513
                             students, including 150 non-Jordanians from
                             friendly and brotherly Arab countries.
The new headquarters of SOS feature modern
additions that have taken training to a new
level, including a knowledge station and a digital
sand table, which transforms traditional sand
table exercises into interactive digital maps and
simulations projected onto a 3D physical surface.
