No 6 Squadron was formed in 1971 at KHAB as an Operational Conver-sion Unit with Hunters which were later replaced by the T37B, an advanced jet trainer. On March 31, 1985 the Squadron number was exchanged with No 11 Squadron and named as No 6 Reconnaissance Squadron stationed at MSAB, Azraq until February 1988. It is now based at PHAB, H5 and equipped with the F5. Its roles are air defence, close air support and air photo reconnaissance. No 6 Squadron RJAF is affiliated with No 6 Squadron RAF with ceremonies held at King Hussein Air College on May 18, 1995 and at RAF Coltishall on November 23, 1995 in the presence of His Majesty King Hussein and the then No 6 Squadron Commander, Lt Colonel Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein.
